I never felt that I fit in anywhere for most of my life.  Many who find themselves coming to this profession have told me they felt like the black sheep of their families, the one who did not fit in.  This is often our call to service in the healing arts.  I moved a lot both to new cities and new jobs and found a community that I could relate to finally in the Chicago area.
In 1980 I spent a year in Zurich, Switzerland, studying at the C.G. Jung Institute and going through intense dream analysis.  It was there that I discovered my belief that “psychosomatic” meant pay attention to the psyche but not the body was incorrect.  If I dreamed about a tooth, my tooth would hurt until I found the correct meaning of the dream.  After returning home I was physically and emotionally drained and very depressed.  A couple of human angels showed up in my life and introduced me to homeopathy, massage, acupressure and acupuncture.
This changed my life dramatically, and I soon found myself in massage school.  Again a human angel insisted that I go to massage school with her.  I didn’t want to give massage to anyone.  I just wanted to receive it.  Now here I am 25 years later still in this profession.  One of my teachers said she would practice bodywork until she was healed, and I thought to myself that would be the remainder of my life.  I believe that to be true. I not only have been practicing various forms of bodywork for 25 years but teaching for 20 years, both in Albuquerque, NM and Lexington, Ky.  I was the co-founder and co-owner of the Lexington Healing Arts Academy for 5 years, and have been back in New Mexico for three years now. Since I have returned, I have had contact with many massage students and long time practicing therapists.  I hear they are looking for ways to deepen their experience in their body work, both for themselves and their clients.

" I wanted to create a different kind of school where the focus on the Self was primary using the body as the vehicle through which we find ourselves, and in the process gaining skills to serve others. If this idea appeals to you, then please grow with us."
